Battle: Aputure 600x vs ARRI 1000w Fresnel
By Patryk Rebisz

In this article we'll compare Aputure 600x to ARRI 1000w Fresnel.
We'll only compare the 3200K output of the Aputure's light to match the color temperature of the ARRI unit.
Quick verdict: Aputure 600x wins becaue it's more versitile but ARRI 1k doesn't lag far behind.
With the X version Aputure gave us both daylight and tungsten option on their flagship light. This came at the price. The output of 600x in daylight mode is only around 70% as bright as the 600d version (which offers daylight option exclusively).
Thus this comparison concentrates on Aputure 600x's 3200K version agains ARRI 1000w Fresnel.
As you can see those two lights match quite well. Both are bright (with 600x a bit brighten and with a much larger spread):

As those lights often are used with soft boxes, here is comparisons with those attached to the front of the units. The brightness of the 600x over the ARRI 1k becomes indescernable (although X + softbox is still a tad brighter). When you put on softbox on Aputure light you have to remove the reflector that normally increases the unit's brightness quite conciderably, thus you dicrease overal brighness. On the ARRI light you put on the softbox in the barndoor slot thus you still get full power of the fresnel lens. In other words, if bare bone Aputure 600x (with its reflector) wins the brigntness game, both lights are more-or-less equal if comparing their brightness with softboxes. This is not a simple conclussion because another way to soften the light is to shine the light through some sort of dissusion (stretched on 4x4 or 6x6 frame). In that scenario you can usereflector on the Aputure 600x (with its increased brightness).

To simplify, Aputure 600x + reflector is brighter than ARRI 1000.
Aputure 600x + softbox is equal to ARRI 1000 + softbox.
Aputure 600x + reflector with diffusion is brighter than ARRI 1000 with diffussion.
Here, a simple comparison of 600x with its softbox agains bare Arri 1k.
